Duties and Responsibilities:  A novelist’s number one task is to write everyday.  They write and write and write until it feels as if their hand is about to fall off.  Novelists have to learn how to manage their time wisely, because in order to have a stable income they have to keep producing books for their readers. A novelist schedules meetings and flights in order to make sure they are making a name for themselves, in order to make sure that they are known.  Overall, novelists are small business owners.  They need to take roles of a publicist, a public speaker, a marketing manager, and event coordinator.

Salary: Novelist make an average income of 65,960$ a year.

Education:  Although it is not required, novelists will sometimes choose to earn a bachelor's degree in English and decide to be part of a degree program/training.

Demand for this profession:  The number of jobs for novelists in the years 2014-2024 is 136,500.  This number is expected to grow by 2% in the years 2014-2024.
Reflection: Would you like to be one?  Why?  Why not?

Becoming a novelist was my career goal as a little girl, and I still have it in mind. I want to become a novelist, but I also want to occupy lots of other careers.
