Neurosurgeon 
Duties and Responsibilities: A neurosurgeon specializes in the brain, the spinal cord, and the peripheral nerves of the body.  Neurosurgeons are responsible for performing surgeries as well as treating patients that are experiencing problems in the areas of the brain or spinal cord.  Neurosurgeons work with psychologists, neurologists, and therapists in order to treat their patients efficiently.  When performing a surgery, a neurosurgeon must work with other doctors and nurses to keep the patient safe and to perform the operation calmly.  Neurosurgeons help people deal with significant problems of the body.  

Salary: Neurosurgeons make up to $395,000 to $589,500 a year.  

Education: The number one requirement to become a neurosurgeon is to attend undergraduate school for 4 years and attend medical school for 4 years.  After these 8 years, most aspiring neurosurgeons take 6 or 7 years of training.  It is important for future neurosurgeons to complete these requirements in order to be able to have more job opportunities. 

Demand or for this profession: The number of jobs for neurosurgeons in the years 2014-2024 is 708,300.  This is job rate is expected to grow by 14% in the years 2014-2024.  

Do you think you would like to be one?  Why?  Why not? I would not like to be a neurosurgeon because working with brains is too much pressure for me and I honestly am freaked by the thought of touching someone's brain.
