Student Success Statement

This quote is very important and I agree with it 200%.  In life, there are so many things that are sad, that can makes us angry, that can make us feel blue.  But in life, there are much more things that are joyful and that can bring happiness into our lives if we let them.  Your attitude towards anything is what determines the power that circumstance has over you.  Being enthusiastic and energetic and positive about all of the obstacles that come your way will let you be in control.  You will feel like you have the power (which is the way it should be because this is YOUR life).  There is a quote that says “A negative mind will never give you a positive life.” and another quote that goes “Change your thoughts, change your life.”  Negativity is so common nowadays, everyone is always angry or upset or sad about something.  Your enthusiasm towards a situation will allow you to see that situation in a completely different light.  Even if that situation is unfortunate or you don't want to be in that situation, your outlook will change everything.  Your thoughts and attitude are what determine who and what is in control of your life - you, or the negative and ugly things in the world.  Be positive, think happy, motivating, fresh and energetic thoughts, and your life is guaranteed to change 110%.    

Medical Illustrator

Duties and Responsibilities:  Medical illustrators create art pieces and photography pieces that have to do with medical assets.  Their responsibility is to draw or photograph images that can reflect a patient's progress.  The art that medical illustrators create is used for many things that mostly involve medicine.  They can create illustrations of many kinds that can be used for medical research, marketing, publishing, diagnosis of patients, and record keeping.  This profession allows doctors and/or medical assistants to become informed on medical records done on their patients.

Salary: Medical illustrators can earn from 62,000$ to 175,000$ a year.  

Education:  A master’s degree is needed to become a medical illustrator.  It is recommended that you take courses in biology, chemistry, and art.  No certification is needed, but there are programs that allow you to become experienced and certified.  On-the-job training is also very important and can benefit you when looking to find a job in this particular profession.

Demand for this profession:  Two of the major skills needed to become a medical illustrator are to be detail-oriented and have a NATURAL ability in art and science.

When people perform good deeds, it is usually in an unselfish way.  The point of being kind and doing the right thing is that you don't expect anything to be given back to you.  With this quote, Dean smith is saying that he didn't expect any sort of reward for his personality.  I think that this quote will make people realize that doing what is right should come naturally to us.  You can't expect people to give you a prize for being good.  You should do what is right because it is the right thing to do.  Smith was a basketball coach, but he knew that winning was not more important than doing what  the right thing.  When you do what is right without expecting anything in return, you are showing that you have integrity.  That is why it is important to always choose the right.  No matter what the “prize” or consequence may be, you should always choose the right.

Student Success Statement

A lot of people are concerned on how to achieve their dreams.  People want to know the answer, the magical key to getting life right.  How exactly do you do that?  Instead of worrying about how to get the answer, focus on choosing the right.  When you “lead your life the right way”, you are letting everything bad fall behind you and letting everything good fall into your hands.  Life is about taking it day by day.  You have to be willing to focus on your life rather than your dreams first.  Once you feel like you are the best version of yourself, only then will it feel ok and right to chase your dreams.  This quote is stating that karma is not something to worry about.  If you lead your life the right way, good things and RIGHT things for YOU will come your way.

Make Your Passion Your Profession

Q:
What is your passion and why is it a passion of yours?

A:

A passion of mine is helping people and fighting for equality.  Ever since I was a little kid, I have been very outspoken and not afraid to be myself.  I started taking notice over the years that I liked to help people because it was something that made me happy.  My mom has also always taught me that it is important to help those who have less than you, those who don't know as much as you, and those who need a hand to help them get up.  This passion has not reduced one bit over the years.  I realized that I like being kind and helping people because I know what it feels like to think you have no one, and I just don't want anyone else to feel the way I did.

Q:

How can you make this passion become your profession?

A:

There are a lot of professions that require helping people.  I have thought about becoming a motivational speaker, a translator, a psychologist/therapist or even a lawyer.  Out of all these professions, I would choose to become a motivational speaker.  A motivational speaker would be perfect for me because 1. I literally never shut up and 2. I'm a very motivational person.

What education is required?

A:

To become a motivational speaker, there is no degree needed.  Why?  Mostly because to motivate people, you use your own knowledge and experiences.  You have to be full of wisdom and be willing to share that wisdom with other people.

Q:

What skills, talents, and attitudes are required?

A:

A motivational speaker has to be willing to SPEAK (duh) in front of large crowds.  You have to be optimistic and brave enough to share your life experiences with strangers.  You have to be able to share creative insight on life, and make compelling presentations that engage the audience.

I am willing to work hard and I am willing to share my insight with the world.

In order to build a community, people who are educated and full of knowledge must contribute.  Many people have many opinions, which is why more than one person is needed to create something great.  This is why it is important to build our well-being in every aspect of life.  We must have a healthy mind, a healthy body, and a healthy spirit.  I think that this quote is very inspirational because it encourages people to become better.  Most people nowadays are so focused on what's on the outside that they forgot to work on the inside.   We have to make sure that our spirit and soul is healthy before we can work on anything else.  This quote is telling us that character is important.  Character is essential to living a life of prosperity.  Character is essential to building and contributing to a community of people who work together.

Medical Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:  The job of a medical assistant is pretty self-explanatory.  A medical assistant has to assist doctors with medical responsibilities.  Medical assistants usually have to keep track of patient records, greet patients, handle telephones, handle billing, and even schedule appointments.  Medical assistants also organize rooms for incoming patients and help doctors with laboratory tools.  

Salary:  Medical assistants earn, on average, 30, 590$ per year.

Education:  The minimum education needed to become a medical assistant is a high school diploma.  You also need to have taken classes in biology or chemistry.  For a higher position, you need to take certain state exams and have a associates degree in medical assisting.

Demand for this profession:  The employment rate for a medical assistant in the years 2014-2024 is 591, 300.  This expected to grow 23% by the year 2024.

Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I would not like to be a medical assistant because the job doesn't fit my interests.

“Take responsibility for YOUR OWN body, mind, and spirit, for your own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.”

Wherever we are in life, there will always be the possibility to make a change in it.  You can change your life in a second.  You can decide “I want to lose weight, I want to gain weight, I want to read and write, I want to start going to the homeless shelter everyday, I want to travel the world.” etc.  You are in control of your own destiny.  If you are not happy with something in your life, it is your responsibility to change it.  We belong to ourselves and it is up to ourselves to make us happy.  What I mean by that is, you have to take responsibility for where you are in life in order to get to where you WANT to be in life.  We can all be happy as long as we really dig deep and work towards that happiness.  What Mr. Haymore was trying to say with this quote is that people need to take responsibility for themselves.  This is important because it helps people realize that they are in control of who and where they are in life.  

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Duties and Responsibilities:  Most LPN’s work in health care offices, clinics, and hospitals.  Their job is to help doctors and registered nurses, provide routine care for patients, and communicating with patients and their families.  LPN’s help doctors by keeping up with their patients routine and their medical information up to date.  

Salary:  Licensed Practical Nurses earn up to $43,170 a year.

Education:  To become a LPN you must obtain a diploma in practical nursing.  You must also pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses.  It is recommended that you take courses basic nursing, medical terminology, infection control, lifespan health care, and pharmacology that offer basic practical nursing skills.

Demand for this profession:  The employment rate for this profession is expected to grow by 16% in the years 2014-2024.  

Do you think you would like to be one?  Why?  Why not?  I would consider becoming an LPN in order to have a part-time job and to have another sources of income when I need it.

If you are a straight A student, you're doing great in school, and you work hard to get good grades, that is great.  But, is that really worth anything if you lack character?  Having character means that you know the difference between right and wrong and that you choose to do what is right.  Having character means that you are respectful towards yourself and towards others.  Both of these things have to be implemented into our lives one way or another.  It is important to be education because being educated allows us to know more and have the ability to spread that knowledge.  It is important to have character because our personality is what makes us who we are.  Intelligence doesn't come easily to everyone, but intelligence does not mean that you have to have straight A’s.  Intelligence means that you are mature and wise enough to be a person who does what is right.  Intelligence refers to being able to be kind and humble.  Having character is the fact that you actually do what is right.  We all know the difference between right and wrong, we all have that knowledge, but those who actually live a life of kindness and do the right thing are those who have character.  

Kinesiologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Kinesiologists study human movement.  Kinesiology includes orthopedics and biomechanics.  The job of a kinesiologist is to study the mechanics of movement in the human body.  They do this by helping patients who have been injured physically.  By studying the human body, kinesiologist also help prevent injuries from happening.

Salary:  Kinesiologists earn on average $47,978 per year.

Education:  To become a kinesiologist, you need a bachelor's or sometimes even a master’s degree.  It is important that you take classes in Human Kinetics or Exercise Physiology.  

Demand for this profession:  The percent for employment in the years 2012-2022 is and is expected to be 36%.

Do you think you would like to be one?  Why not?

I wouldnt like to be a kinesiologist because I am not interested in pursuing a career that involves medicine or science.

Student Success Statement

“We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do.”

When it comes to doing the right thing, a lot of people don't do it.  The reason is that people feel that doing the right thing is uncool or they want to fit in and have friends.  But those people are followers and cowards.  It takes heart and bravery to do the right thing no matter what anybody thinks.  Like the quote says, it takes courage to start standing up for what is right and to start doing what is right.  Kindness costs nothing.  Once you start being kind and doing what you should do, you will be fearless.  You will not care what anybody has to say because the universe will reward you. Although being kind isn't about receiving a gift, when you do good things good things will come to you.  This quote says that you need courage to do what needs to be done because that is not easy.  It can take years for someone to learn what they should be doing and actually do it.  But once you begin, you will never stop because you will realize that it is the right thing to do.

Winter Break

During Winter Break I didn't really do much.  I went to a few basketball games to support my friend Lupe.  For Christmas I went to my nina’s house and spent a lot of time with my family.  We ate posole and donuts with hot chocolate.  There wasn't a lot of people so we didn't open any presents.  I got a lot of good presents for Christmas, and most of them were purple because that's my favorite color.  New Years wasn't really that special, me and my mom stayed at the house all day and just watched T.V.   Me and my mom both got sick so we couldn't really go out.  For New Years we ate tamales for breakfast and they were so so so good.  I started watching Glee again on Netflix, and I don't know why because I have watched every episode twice already.   I had a good break though, I really needed a break from school to refresh and start new and improved.  I am happy that 2017 is here and I think that it's going to be a great year.
