Chris Paul: A True Spirit

Chris Paul, while being Senior Class President at West Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, also played basketball.  He was the best player on the team and the one person who always supported him was his grandfather, Wesley Jones.  While playing one of his best games, Chris Paul saw his grandfather sitting in the stands watching him.  After the game, Jones gave Chris Paul his hat which made the game even better.  Chris Paul’s one goal was to make his grandfather proud, and he certainly did.  His grandfather was an important part of his life, and when he passed away Chris was devastated.  He was at a high school football game when he received the news from his cousin that his grandfather had been murdered outside his home.  Despite going through a time of grief, Chris did not stop playing or stop achieving his goals.  He dedicated his absolute best game to his grandfather, honoring him by making 61 shots himself.  He chose the number 61 because that was the age of Jones when he passed away.  Chris Paul no plays for the Lakers and he attended Wake Forest University.
