"Obedience is the great test of life."
  Thomas S. Monson

To me, this quote means that there are rules for a reason.  Can you imagine what the roads would be like if we had no red, yellow, or green lights?  It would be chaos.  Obedience is to have discipline and respect.  I think this quote is true to a certain point.  Sometimes you have to be just a little rebellious and break rules, in order to be seen or be heard.  Even though it doesn't seem like it, breaking rules is also a part of obedience.  It is a given that throughout a person's life, they will obey rules AND break them.  The one thing I take from this quote is that you cant go through life if you are just breaking rules.  It might be part of life, but it is not all there is to life.  I think that the reason why obedience is such a big part of life is because there are so many things that come a long with that trait.  People who know how to respect and be responsible and who are honest, those are the people who will most likely be "obedient".
