Dentist
Duties and Responsibilities:  Dentists specialize in working with teeth.  Their job is to examine teeth, or the mouth area, and determine what a person needs.  They fix and examine many things, like fractured teeth.  They also examine the gums and the jaw, and the surrounding areas of the teeth.


Salary:  The average annual pay for a dentist is $149,310.  Their pay can depend on the type of dentist they are.
Education: To become a dentist, you need a doctoral degree in dental medicine/surgery.  It is beneficial to choose schools that offer a Doctor of Dental Surgery or a Doctor of Dental Medicine.


Demand for this profession: The number of jobs for dentists in the year 2014-2024 is 151,500.  The percent change for the employment rate in the years 2014-2024 is expected to be 18%.

I would not like to be a dentist because I think it’s weird to be so close to another person’s mouth.  It creeps me out, which is why sometimes I don’t even like going to the dentist myself.  With that said, no, I would not like to be one.
