Ophthalmologist 

Image result for ophthalmologistDuties and Responsibilities: Ophthalmologists treat illnesses that involve the eyes.  They specialize in examining patients and prescribing glasses or contact lenses.  Ophthalmologists are very different from your typical "eye doctor".  Their job can also include performing surgeries and treating diseases that involve the eye area.  Ophthalmologists are similar to optometrists, only with more risque duties.  

Salary: Ophthalmologists usually earn up to 197,700$ annually. 

Education: Ophthalmologists are required to earn a medical degree.  It can take up to 16 years to become a certified ophthalmologist.  You are required to earn a 4-years bachelors degree, complete 4 years of medical school, and take up to 3-8 years in internships.  Although the process may seem lengthy, the career itself will be worth it.  

Demand for this profession: The job outlook for this career in the years 2014-2024 is expected to grow by 14%.

I would not like to be an ophthalmologist because I don’t want to have to stay in school for 16 more years after high school.
