Student Success Statement- Last Lecture

“You will go far with CTR.”
Mr. Haymore

CTR is a choice and a commitment.  Just like everything else in life that is worth something, being a CTR person is a choice that we have to make.  We can choose to go the wrong way, or we can choose to go the right way.  CTR will take you much farther than many other things in life.  It is important that we not only realize this, but that we choose to do something about it.  Ask yourself if you want to be kinder.  If you want to be stronger and firm in your beliefs.  If anything, ask yourself if you are willing to choose to do what is right 100% of the time.  This quote is plain and simple.  Do what is right, because it will take you far in life.  Do what is right, because it will make you a better person.  Do what is right, because it will make your life so much better.  Remember that CTR will never fail you, so long as you always choose the right.

Class Evaluation
I like that this class allowed me to better my typing skills.  I feel that before I took this class, I didn’t have resources to go to whenever I needed help with a tech problem.  Now that this class is over, I realized that I learned a lot about computers, I learned useful information which will definitely help me in the future.

I did not like the lack of change in the classroom.  Although I do like to reflect on Student Success Statements and research Medical Careers, I feel that there should have been more things we did in the classroom besides that.  If anything, that is the only thing that I feel could have been better in the class.

I recommend that student involvement be a big part of the Digital Computing class next year.  It is important to build relationships with our peers, as well as our teachers.  I think that there should be more projects with two or more students involved, which, again would help the students get to know each other a little bit better.

The highlight for me in this class was our CTR Project.  I realized that CTR is an important commitment and that although it is a big commitment, it does not take much to be a CTR person.  Working with one of my classmates on the project also allowed me to gain new insight on what CTR is and how two people can have a different opinion on it.

I feel that I did my best for the first semester of this class, and when second semester came around, I didn't do as well or try as hard.  I still earned my A’s and decided that I was going to keep trying, but I did not give my best.  I feel that this is because of the overwhelming work of other classes, that are more important on your report card, since Digital Computing is an elective.  Overall, my performance in this class represents my effort and enthusiasm I have for learning more about computers and technology.

My Life-Planning Goals Journal is crucial for me to keep going for my dreams and to stay motivated, but I can sometimes be very forgetful that I have to write in it everyday.  I try my best not to forget, but whenever I actually take a look at my LPGJ, I make sure to think long and hard about my goals.  I like that Mr. Haymore came up with this idea, and that it is incorporated into our grade.  MY LPGJ has helped me stay motivated in all aspects of my life.

I am not completely, 100% committed to being a CTR person.  CTR might work for other people, but I feel that I need to know much more about CTR before I can truly decided whether I want to make that commitment.  All that Mr. Haymore has taught the class about CTR is engraved into my mind, and I hope that one day I can be fully committed to being a kind, brave, and confident soul.

“The ULTIMATE CHOICE is to be a CTR Person-to Always CHOOSE THE RIGHT 24/7 !!!”
Mr. Haymore

In life, there are a lot of choices we have to make.  Sometimes we make good choices and sometimes we make bad choices.  Just like we made those choice, we must also deal with the consequences.  Whether the consequences be good or bad because of the choice that we made, we must always choose to deal with the repercussions of our actions.  This quote is encouraging other to choose to do what is right so that we can deal with positive consequences, not negative ones.  It is important to keep in mind what is right at all times.  We have to go where our heart tells us is right, which means to choose the right.  Sometimes, what is right for you might not be right for someone else, but that doesn't matter.  You have to do what is right for you and for your life, regardless of what others might think of you or what you do.  I think that this quote is very encouraging, and that it is a great reminder to always choose to do what is right.

DANCE

I chose this topic because dance is my passion.  It is my sanctuary, my peace.  It is a topic that I know much about, and I wanted to choose something that I was passionate about and that I would have fun researching.

According to Google, dance is “to move rhythmically to music, typically following a set sequence of steps”.  But dancing is more than moving your feet left and right and throwing your hands in the air.  It is so much more than that.  Dancing brings people and communities together.  Dancing is diverse, yet accepting.  People, no matter what race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender can dance.  Dancing is something that you put your entire being and heart into. You cannot dance half-heartedly and you cannot fake your love for dance.  Dancing is something that no one can take away from you, because even if you can dance, you find joy in watching others dance.  You support other dancers who love dance just as much as you do, and who work hard just as much as you do.  Dancing is not something that can be put into a tight, 4-walled box.  It is like a tree, branching out to so many different places at so many different times.  With roots that cannot be challenged.  There is so many genres of dance.  Hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, jazz, rock, cumbia, salsa, merengue, tutting, popping, etc.  Dance is something that not many people understand, because like I said, it is something you have to feel in your heart.  Dancing opens doors and windows for people who have never seen the sun.  Dance is love.  Dance is change.  Dance is passion.

Character
If there is beauty in character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion:
If there is beauty in character,
there will be peace in the world.
Chinese Proverb

What is the most important thing in life?  Is it money?  Is it family?  Is it kindness?  Is it love?  No one can really say for a fact that any of these things are the most important thing in life, because everyone has their own opinions.  Reading this Chinese Proverb made me think that character is the most important thing in life.  Character encompasses all other aspects of a good person, like integrity, dignity, and honesty.  Character, in my opinion, is the most important thing in life.  You are able to know who you are with character.  You know your morals and values.  Now, character is one thing, but a beautiful character?  A beautiful character can change lives, it can change the world.  That is what this Chinese Proverb is saying.  A beautiful character has the ability to create peace in the world.

Yoga Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities:  Yoga therapy is the use of the exercise yoga to help people become more self-aware of themselves.  Yoga therapy might be a very good coping mechanism for people that battle depression, PTSD, or even bipolar disorder.  Yoga therapists are instructors that teach their patients how to do yoga, either by themselves or in a class with various people.  Not only do yoga therapists teach this, but they teach their patients how to be more healthy in all ways, including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Salary: Yoga Therapists can earn up to $70,180 a year.

Education:  Yoga Therapists must be very well-trained before they can actually help people.  It is important that they know about the body’s anatomy, yoga philosophy and teaching skills, and understanding physiology in health.  These skills, added on to on-the-job training, will help a Yoga Therapist’s likelihood of becoming employed.
Demand or need for this profession: The employment rate for yoga therapists is expected to grow about 30% by the year 2020.

Do you think you would like to be one?  Why?  Why not?
I would not like to be a yoga therapist because I feel that it is a job that requires a lot fo patience, which I lack.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
Thomas Carlyle

A rudder is what guides and steers a ship.  Like this quote is stating, goals are the same as rudders.  They guide and steer your life to a positive or negative direction.  Your goals are what keep you motivated and help you see that there are great things ahead.  This is why this quotes is saying that a man without goals is like a ship without a rudder.  What happens if you do not have goals in life?  Will you know where to go?  Will you know what to do?  Without goals, you will get lost.  Just like on a ship, if you do not have rudders, you will get lost.  Goals are what keep you going.  They keep you wanting a better version of yourself.  Most importantly, they help guide and steer your life in the direction YOU want it to go.  You control your goals, just like on a ship, you control the rudders.
