Medical Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:  The job of a medical assistant is pretty self-explanatory.  A medical assistant has to assist doctors with medical responsibilities.  Medical assistants usually have to keep track of patient records, greet patients, handle telephones, handle billing, and even schedule appointments.  Medical assistants also organize rooms for incoming patients and help doctors with laboratory tools.  

Salary:  Medical assistants earn, on average, 30, 590$ per year.

Education:  The minimum education needed to become a medical assistant is a high school diploma.  You also need to have taken classes in biology or chemistry.  For a higher position, you need to take certain state exams and have a associates degree in medical assisting.

Demand for this profession:  The employment rate for a medical assistant in the years 2014-2024 is 591, 300.  This expected to grow 23% by the year 2024.

I would not like to be a medical assistant because the job doesn't fit my interests.

Wherever we are in life, there will always be the possibility to make a change in it.  You can change your life in a second.  You can decide “I want to lose weight, I want to gain weight, I want to read and write, I want to start going to the homeless shelter everyday, I want to travel the world.” etc.  You are in control of your own destiny.  If you are not happy with something in your life, it is your responsibility to change it.  We belong to ourselves and it is up to ourselves to make us happy.  What I mean by that is, you have to take responsibility for where you are in life in order to get to where you WANT to be in life.  We can all be happy as long as we really dig deep and work towards that happiness.  What Mr. Haymore was trying to say with this quote is that people need to take responsibility for themselves.  This is important because it helps people realize that they are in control of who and where they are in life.  

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Duties and Responsibilities:  Most LPN’s work in health care offices, clinics, and hospitals.  Their job is to help doctors and registered nurses, provide routine care for patients, and communicating with patients and their families.  LPN’s help doctors by keeping up with their patients routine and their medical information up to date.  

Salary:  Licensed Practical Nurses earn up to $43,170 a year.

Education:  To become a LPN you must obtain a diploma in practical nursing.  You must also pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses.  It is recommended that you take courses basic nursing, medical terminology, infection control, lifespan health care, and pharmacology that offer basic practical nursing skills.

Demand for this profession:  The employment rate for this profession is expected to grow by 16% in the years 2014-2024.  

Do you think you would like to be one?  Why?  Why not?  I would consider becoming an LPN in order to have a part-time job and to have another sources of income when I need it.

If you are a straight A student, you're doing great in school, and you work hard to get good grades, that is great.  But, is that really worth anything if you lack character?  Having character means that you know the difference between right and wrong and that you choose to do what is right.  Having character means that you are respectful towards yourself and towards others.  Both of these things have to be implemented into our lives one way or another.  It is important to be education because being educated allows us to know more and have the ability to spread that knowledge.  It is important to have character because our personality is what makes us who we are.  Intelligence doesn't come easily to everyone, but intelligence does not mean that you have to have straight A’s.  Intelligence means that you are mature and wise enough to be a person who does what is right.  Intelligence refers to being able to be kind and humble.  Having character is the fact that you actually do what is right.  We all know the difference between right and wrong, we all have that knowledge, but those who actually live a life of kindness and do the right thing are those who have character.  

Kinesiologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Kinesiologists study human movement.  Kinesiology includes orthopedics and biomechanics.  The job of a kinesiologist is to study the mechanics of movement in the human body.  They do this by helping patients who have been injured physically.  By studying the human body, kinesiologist also help prevent injuries from happening.

Salary:  Kinesiologists earn on average $47,978 per year.

Education:  To become a kinesiologist, you need a bachelor's or sometimes even a master’s degree.  It is important that you take classes in Human Kinetics or Exercise Physiology.  

Demand for this profession:  The percent for employment in the years 2012-2022 is and is expected to be 36%.

I wouldnt like to be a kinesiologist because I am not interested in pursuing a career that involves medicine or science.

When it comes to doing the right thing, a lot of people don't do it.  The reason is that people feel that doing the right thing is uncool or they want to fit in and have friends.  But those people are followers and cowards.  It takes heart and bravery to do the right thing no matter what anybody thinks.  Like the quote says, it takes courage to start standing up for what is right and to start doing what is right.  Kindness costs nothing.  Once you start being kind and doing what you should do, you will be fearless.  You will not care what anybody has to say because the universe will reward you. Although being kind isn't about receiving a gift, when you do good things good things will come to you.  This quote says that you need courage to do what needs to be done because that is not easy.  It can take years for someone to learn what they should be doing and actually do it.  But once you begin, you will never stop because you will realize that it is the right thing to do.

Winter Break

During Winter Break I didn't really do much.  I went to a few basketball games to support my friend Lupe.  For Christmas I went to my nina’s house and spent a lot of time with my family.  We ate posole and donuts with hot chocolate.  There wasn't a lot of people so we didn't open any presents.  I got a lot of good presents for Christmas, and most of them were purple because that's my favorite color.  New Years wasn't really that special, me and my mom stayed at the house all day and just watched T.V.   Me and my mom both got sick so we couldn't really go out.  For New Years we ate tamales for breakfast and they were so so so good.  I started watching Glee again on Netflix, and I don't know why because I have watched every episode twice already.   I had a good break though, I really needed a break from school to refresh and start new and improved.  I am happy that 2017 is here and I think that it's going to be a great year.
